Today’s Healing Word – Walk

The end of winter is near.  After a season of going inside, it is time to begin to awaken your spirit to new possibilities. It is time to walk.

During the season of cold, we tend to bundle up or stay indoors.  It is a time of rest and dreaming in the old way.  The days are cloudy and dark, the perfect time for quiet reflection on our lives and what we want to dream into being during the next cycle.

As spring approaches, it is time to shed our layers and open ourselves to the new light.  We cast off our heavy clothes, and with them, we cast off our heavy burdens.  We stand a bit taller and feel the freedom of leaving behind what is no longer needed.

Now is a great time to begin your new walk.  Literally, you can go out into nature and walk, listening to the messages of the returning birds, seeing small buds and new shoots emerging.  Feel inside for what is wanting to be awakened in you.  What are you wanting to bring forth in this new time?  What dream are you wanting to manifest?

Are you ready to walk with freedom and creativity?

Today’s Healing Word – Breath

Are you taking your breath for granted?

You do it all day.  As long as you are alive, you are breathing.  For most people, breathing is an unconscious action.  Your body is programmed to breathe. You don’t have to think about breathing to do it.

What happens when you think about your breath?  You can begin to realize the active state of your breathing and the effect it has on each moment.  Are you holding your breath?  Are your breaths shallow and constricted or are they deep and free?

Almost anything you do in life will be easier and more powerful when you are conscious of how you are breathing.  Your breath can calm you.  Your breath can increase your physical power.  Your breath can channel your emotional power.  Coming into relationship with your breath brings you into conscious relationship with all life.

What is your breath teaching you today?

Today’s Healing Word – Healing

Art is healing; healing is art.

The most powerful art is created when the artist releases pain, sadness or injury into the canvas.  Finding expression for these emotions allows the artist to revisit them and find what needs to be released.

Experiencing a work of art created through such a release can often lead the audience to discovering the emotion trapped within the self.  We allow the artist’s release to spur ourselves to healing old wounds.

The process of healing is an art within itself.  Looking at the self and finding the wounds within is the first step to healing.  Once discovered, we can find our own release and move forward with more joy and success in life.

The artist is the embodiment of the creative spirit and uses the artistic medium to hold the infinite healing energy of expression.

What within you is looking for healing?  How can you express this emotion through creative art?

Today’s Healing Word – Plan

What is your plan for sustaining your dream of life?

Do you have a dream?  Do you have a strategy for how you will share your gifts with the world?  What plans have you made to fulfill your heart’s desire?

Being alive in your spirit, open to change and seeking balance is a good energetic way to begin to fulfill your sacred dreams.  And, dreams only take you so far.  At some point, you need to move into action to make those dreams become reality.

Your successful plan will recognize all your available resources, how to access them and how to make them work in harmony with guidance from your heart. Now, find the warrior in yourself who is able to stick with the plan and move forward with right action.

What is your plan for today?  Does it bring you a step closer to fulfilling your dreams?

Today’s Healing Word – Drama

Peace can be found within the drama of your life.

Life is full of drama.  When you are stuck in your own dramas, the world will mirror your emotions back to you.  Your troubles and fears are played out in front of you every time you turn on a television or watch a movie.  They are highlighted in the books you read and played out in your neighbor’s back yard.

Emotions are not meant to be peanut butter.   Getting stuck in your emotions is like eating a peanut butter sandwich with nothing to wash it down.  It can drag on you and leave you without a moment of peace.

Emotions are like a flowing river, sometimes slow and serene and other times tumbling over rapids, but always moving.  Finding peace with the drama of your life is possible when you break the dams of emotion that are holding you back.  Cry like nobody is watching.  Laugh until you pee your pants.  Feel peace flowing back into the crevices where your emotions have been hiding.

What emotion needs to be expressed in you today?

Today’s Healing Word – Difference

The gift of diversity can make a difference in your life.

Our universe creates itself through the gift of diversity.  No two humans are exactly the same.  Each moment is uniquely different.  Being open to experience this diversity, in whatever form it takes, allows you to develop trust in yourself and in others.

Seeing others in their unique diversity is a gift you give to all life.  Trusting another’s different shape, style or perspective allows you to receive their special gift and, in turn, your acceptance becomes a gift to them.

When you hide from or fear diversity, you build separation and limitations for yourself.  What we fear, we try to destroy.  What we try to destroy, destroys us.  When you gift yourself acceptance of the other, you open to the abundance of the great mystery.

What gift to you bring with your own diversity? What differences do you see in yourself today?

Today’s Healing Word – Capacity

What capacity do you need to protect your territories?

To help us understand our world, we create boundaries to define our territories.  Conflict can occur when we feel the need to protect our boundaries.  Do you have the capacity to maintain your perceived level of protection?  Is it really needed?

Resources are used to create locks, walls and lines of demarcation.  More resources are needed to defend them.  How much of your resources are being used for defense?   How could you extend your capacity if those boundaries were eliminated?

In our current world, much of our resources are spent on defense.  What would happen to our world if we spent those same resources on connection and cooperation?  Could we end world hunger?  Would we have the capacity to spread world peace?

What could you accomplish if your capacity for love was unlimited?  What boundaries do you no longer need to defend?

Today’s Healing Word – Inheritance

What boundaries have you established and what boundaries have you allowed others to establish for you?

You may have inherited some of your boundaries from your ancestors.  Our parents teach us boundaries that their parents taught them.   Which of these boundaries are still relevant for your life today?

Openly questioning the roots of your boundaries can help you see more clearly which boundaries to keep and which are no longer needed.   Some of the boundaries you have inherited are helpful.  When your grandmother taught you not to touch poison ivy, you learned a valuable life lesson.  However, if your mother taught you people of another religion were evil, she may have been passing on a lesson that is no longer needed in your world.

Looking at the boundaries you were taught can help you become aware of the boundaries you may be passing on to your children.  Are your boundaries life-affirming for your children?  Are you protecting your children or walling them off with old traditions or ways of being that no longer serve?

How have the boundaries of your ancestors affected your life?   Which walls will you tear down?

Today’s Healing Word – Body

Your physical body is an important component in how you communicate with others.

In our world of high technology, emails, tweets, blog posts, and internet, the ability to express emotion in our communication can be limited.  Without the use of sound and body language, our messages can be misunderstood.

We use our body language to enhance communication through gestures, facial expressions and even the level of sound our vocal cords produce.  Emoticons and bold lettering may not get your word across as effectively as a physical smile or a soft whisper.

The combination of words and body language mirrors the combination of spirit and structure.  Both are needed in this world to create balance.  Just as the physical expression helps convey the correct understanding of the words spoken, hearing words can also help explain our physical gestures and postures.

What is your body language expressing?  Do your words and your physical expression create a balanced message?

Today’s Healing Word – Integrity

Integrity is the result of bringing all parts together into wholeness.

When you are present in your life, honoring diversity, remembering your sacred path, practicing balance, consciously dreaming, and honoring your heart knowing, you can use your inner discipline to move with integrity.

Integrity honors all life.  Each part of life is an integral piece of the great mystery.  When you see yourself as an equal and important part of the creation of the universe, you are able to move in a life-affirming manner to guard your sacred self and hold self-respect and self-authority in all things.

Guarding the sacred self with integrity is the first step to healing the hoop of all life.
