Today’s Healing Word – Transformation

Great art has the power to transform the viewer, the artist, and the world.

You are feeling stressed or sad.  You see an image of a beautiful meadow of flowers next to a gently flowing stream and you feel better.  You hear the soulful song of a lover scorned and feel her pain in your heart.  The artist has used the power of expression to transform your energy.

Paint becomes picture, tone becomes song, and movement becomes story.  This is the magic of art.  It can cause lovers to unite and nations to fall.  It can bring smiles, laughter, joy and sorrow.  While one person feels joy in the meadow of flowers, another may feel grief from the memory it brings.

Art can transform a discarded piece of wood into a sacred object, or the side of an abandoned building into inspiration. Art expresses discontent and reminds of of beauty in our darkest moments.

How have you been transformed by art?

Today’s Healing Word – Journey

The artist captures the journey of the present and preserves this knowledge for all generations.

The human journey has been documented by artists since the first human drew a picture in the sand.  By capturing the present moment, the artist records a moment in time.  When you see a picture of cave paintings, you are seeing a glimpse of the human journey.

Through creative expression, the artist presents this journey on canvas, in song, in story and in dance.  For many ages, history was an oral tradition kept by storytellers.  Telling a good story, whether fiction or history, is more powerful when told through the talent of a true artist.

When you create a work of art, you are accepting the task of being the storyteller for many generations to come.  How we interpret the past has much to do with how we view the art we uncover in paintings, books, architecture, dance and song.

What will future generations learn about this moment from viewing your art?

Today’s Healing Word – Emotion

The artist channels the power of emotions into works of art.

The artist releases these emotions through the process of creation. Joy, love, fear or anger, giving voice to the emotions through art can be a clearing process for the artist.  Expressing these emotions keeps the artist clear of block and open to unlimited creativity.

By giving voice to these emotions through art, the artist identifies these emotions for others and allows us all to share in the true expression.  Seeing a vibrant landscape can bring joy to the viewer.  Hearing the pain behind a song can release similar blocked emotions in the listener.

Diversity is the lifeblood of artistic expression.  When the artist captures the diversity of life, he shares this perspective with the audience.  No two works are exactly the same.  The audience is enriched through the experience of becoming aware of life’s many facets.

What form of art speaks to you?  How does your art reveal your diversity?

Today’s Healing Word – Senses

The artist’s senses are open in the present moment.

Art is created in each beautiful present moment.  It is the expression of what is now, and who the artist is now. The artist captures a moment in time on canvas, in song, or in movement.  No two works of art will ever be exactly the same.

This expression comes from what the artist is sensing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching and seeing. Each individual expression will appeal to the audience through their senses whether it be in a flavorful meal, a exhilarating dance, or a well-crafted love song.

This energy of presence with the senses enables the artist to access the wisdom of all that is and bring that wisdom to the audience in their own unique way.

Which of your senses inspires you to create?

Today’s Healing word – Artist

The artist accesses freedom of expression.

You do not have to be Van Gogh to be an artist.  You were born with the ability to express yourself in many ways.  How you choose that expression can be your personal form of art.

All possibilities are open to the artist to create with unlimited energy.  The world was created from the void with all possibilities. You have this same opportunity available to you when you allow yourself the freedom to be open to your personal expression in whatever form that may be.

Artists express themselves in many mediums such as pigment, fabric, clay, words, movement or images.  Some artists work with leaves, water, fire or the air. Nature is a wonderful place to look for inspiration.

All free expression can be art.  How you choose to express yourself as an artist is totally open.  The most important part is feeling the freedom to release that expression.

What is your artistic medium?  How will you express your creativity today?
